KIDS WITH COURAGE PROGRAM
Kids with Courage is a seven-week program that aims to strengthen primary aged children, together with their family, particularly those who are under stress at school, home or with peer relationships.
The program includes themes that build on the child's strengths. In a supportive, fun atmosphere they will explore feelings, set goals, and find positive ways of making changes.
The program is both remedial and preventative. It has been developed in response to increasing numbers of kids who are living in high stress environments - situations such as divorce, separation, blended families, emotional and physical abuse and chemical dependence in carers.
Kids with Courage will provide support for parents/carers; ensure a safe environment; use role plays to develop life skills; assist children's communication skills; encourage positive self regard; teach children to access support.
The six topics covered are - feelings, boundaries, social skills, grief and loss, fear and worry, self esteen. Each session is
1 1/2hrs long and includes puppetry, drama, video, role plays, small group processing, games and crafts.
