Funding Criteria
Please note: The funding criteria for the Inner West and South
East Sydney are different. Please see below for more details.
Inner West Funding Criteria:
Essential:
- Addresses parenting education for parents of children 0-8 years;
- Service to be provided within Inner West Area, using Families First geographic
boundary;
- Demonstrate responsiveness to community needs;
- Agencies applying for funding will also need to contribute resources to the
project;
- Evidence of an evaluation strategy developed for use; NB For the August
September 2008 funding round applications for group will be required to use the
Parent Concerns Questionnaire Brief Form. See For Professionals -

- All projects will need to include answers to the SFRP Essential Reporting

Helpful Hints for Applicants:
- Funding can be utilised for: Childcare Workers, Program Resource Materials
(eg workbooks and tip sheets);
- Administration costs up to 10% of the total funding requested;
- Salaries for Out of Business Hours facilitators;
- Salaries for Daytime external facilitators only.
Desirable:
- Initiatives that provide assistance to families who need extra support (Families
First Field of Activity 3);
- Initiatives that improve the connection between families and the community
(Families First Field of Activity 4);
- Initiatives that demonstrate use of strengths based practice;
- Initiatives that demonstrate collaboration and partnerships with other agencies;
- The provision of evidence-based parenting programs such as Triple P - Positive
Parenting Program or Magic 123
South East Sydney Funding Criteria:
For the purpose of this funding, a Parenting Program is defined as:
“A clearly planned and specified set of activities to be undertaken by a
trained facilitator, with a group of parents. Parenting Programs are focused,
short-term interventions aimed at educating parents to improve their relationship
with their child, and preventing or treating a range of problems, including behavioural
and emotional adjustment”
Essential:
- Addresses parenting education for parents of children 0-8 years;
- Service must be provided to families living within the South East Sydney area,
using the Families First geographic boundary;
- Demonstrate responsiveness to community needs and an increase in service delivery
beyond what already exists;
- Parenting Education must be delivered in line with Families First principles,
with a particular focus on improving outcomes for families within a prevention
and early intervention framework. Please refer to: Families
First Strategic Directions document.
- Evidence of an evaluation strategy developed for use. Please note: you will
also be required to use the Parent Concerns Questionnaire Brief Form.
- Initiatives must commence within 6 months of receiving funding and must be
completed within 12 months of receiving funding;
- All not for profit and Local Government agencies are welcome to apply. State
government agencies may apply but only in partnership with a not for profit or
Local Government agency;
- If an organisation applies for a grant in order to train their staff, then
they must demonstrate that parenting programs will be run as a direct result of
this training.
Desirable:
- Initiatives that demonstrate use of strengths based practice;
- Initiatives that demonstrate collaboration and partnerships with other agencies;
- The provision of evidence-based parenting programs such as Triple P - Positive
Parenting Program or Magic 123
- Initiatives that will improve access to families that otherwise may not be
accessing your service.
